After coming back from church and staying at home for a sec to decide whether we should go to the Esplanade Market along St. Kilda Beach or straight to Brighton Beach, we finally decided that we would try to do them both considering that those two places are not that far from each other (d’uh).
Leaving a cloudy city behind, my brother, my mom, brother’s girlfriend and me were welcomed with sunny beach and the hoi polloi of the market. As we, the ladies, strolled along the stalls (caricatures, sculptures and handicrafts), my brother was faithfully acting as a photographer/cameraman, recording various moments when we fastidiously selecting stuff and bargaining (well, not really bargaining. we just left when the prices were too expensive haha.). As frantic as my mother was trying to cover her face with a scarf to avoid sunburnt, she successfully found and bought three pretty things, all handmade. I guess she did the shopping for us cos the rest got nothing to buy. 3-0 for my mom.
Then off we went to Brighton Beach. Once again we were deceived by the bright ray of lights because we were shivering as we posed and took photos around the colorful beach houses. After gaining headache from the cold wind blow, I persuaded the rest to get some risottos at Topolinos on Fitzroy st, since it’s closer and they cook good pastas. None of them agreed with me (damn it), and my brother suggested that we could go to TGI’s Friday on Chapel st. The rest beamed with excitement, except me.
Not that I don’t enjoy their Jack Daniel’s burger or the tasty fried mac and cheese. I love them! But I just had them three nights ago. So yea I love them, but not that much.
Knowing fully well that you don’t go against three when you are alone, esp. when there’s your mom on the opposite party, I reluctantly conformed to their wish. Another Jack Daniel’s burger won’t hurt you, right?
Right.. I wish I didn’t eat all those chips. Though I left the top bun of the burger (so my burger should’ve been called “jack daniel’s open burger”) to decrease the portion, I still feel bloated. Up to this moment. I thank God for giving me another evening to enjoy good food, but I guess He also taught me about gluttony. And it didn’t feel nice. It’s yucky. Oh, another thing that happened at TGI (what was the first one? 0_o?) was that the waiting staff assigned for our table happened to forget putting in our order, and so we had to wait for an hour before we had our dinner. In response to this issue, TGI has given us four vouchers for free desserts for the next visit, two slices of black forest and a slice of brownie. All for free. =D
To settle the food down, we entered Borders, thinking that we could take our time and walked around before going home. And what happened was I found this big thick green book with an extremely familiar picture on the cover; a green lady in black and a pale lady in white. It was a behind-the-scene look at the hit broadway musical of WICKED! arrghh!! It only took couple of seconds before I grabbed the book and held it in my arm. hehe. It’s the american version, with the original casts so there’s no Lucy Durack or Amanda Harrison, but that’s alright cos the book has THE SCRIPT !! so I can actually read it again and again while playing the scenes in my mind. Yippie !!
Okey, now I sound like a maniac.
So, after that Wicked book, I grabbed other three books; one was a classic title by Jane Austen, one was a fiction which I believe was the source of Brad Pitt’s film ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ which is about to be released around Christmas, and the last one was for a Christmas gift. So I just spent $125 for books. Love the feeling *-*.
ouw crap. And I just remembered that I didn’t use Borders coupon of 35% discount for 4 books or more. ARGGH!
Should I return all the books to Borders tomorrow and buy them back with my coupon ? Do I sound very ‘cina’ now ? Bet I do.
alright. that’s all for today. Glad that I can actually finish writing up an entry. Will find some time to finish up the previous two uncompleted posts. And two drafts.
Oh. Am going to Gold Coast and Sydney from Tuesday, 25 Nov to 3 Dec. So I guess no entries or any completions will be done for at least 10 days.
Wishing you all a great week ahead ! God bless!
